The Aurdalsegga ( Norwegian for scree ridge ) is an irregularly shaped mountain ridge in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises over a length of 8 km immediately southeast of the Aurdalen in the southern Petermann chain of the Wohlthat massif . Mount Nikolayev belongs to her .
The ridge was discovered and mapped during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Participants in the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) carried out a new mapping based on their own measurements and with the help of aerial photographs and gave the formation its name, which is based on the valley of the same name.
