Aurelio Juri

Aurelio Juri (born July 27, 1949 in Pula , Yugoslavia , today Croatia ) is a Slovenian politician .

He lives in Koper , where he graduated from the Italian-speaking grammar school in 1968 . From 1972 to 1990 he worked as a journalist for the Italian-language radio and television program in Koper.

In 1989/90 he was a member of the Central Committee of the Slovene National Association of the Union of Communists of Yugoslavia . From 1994 to 1997 he was mayor of Koper. From 1996 to 2008 he was a member of the Slovenian Parliament .

As a replacement for Borut Pahor , he was a member of the European Parliament from November 7, 2008 until the end of the legislative period (2009) . As a representative of the Socialni Demokratiei , he belonged to the group of the Party of European Socialists . He was a member of the Budget Control Committee , the Committee on Constitutional Affairs and the Delegation to the EU-Croatia Joint Parliamentary Committee. He was a deputy member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs .

In June 2009 he announced his resignation from the party, which he justified with the party's stance in tense relations with neighboring Croatia.

His brother Franco Juri and his son Luka Juri are members of the Slovenian parliament.
