Aurich is a district of the large district town of Vaihingen an der Enz in the Ludwigsburg district in Baden-Württemberg and has around 1,600 inhabitants.
geography
Aurich is around three kilometers southwest of the core city of Vaihingen. The neighboring villages are Vaihingen an der Enz , Enzweihingen , Riet , Nussdorf , Großglattbach and Roßwag .
history
The settlement of the place took place probably in the year 85 by the Romans. The field name or place name "Urach" originated in the 8th century. It proves that the primeval ox or aurochs had their pasture in the Kreuzbachtal.
Aurich was first mentioned in a document in the second half of the 12th century. The place is indicated by archaeological finds as a Merovingian settlement. Until the middle of the 20th century, agriculture, fruit growing and viticulture were the main activities here. Today almost exclusively commuters from the city center and the Stuttgart area live here. On January 1, 1975, the ordered incorporation into the large district town of Vaihingen an der Enz took place as the ninth suburb.
