The training promotion agency for gardening, landscaping and sports field construction eV (AuGaLa) was founded in 1977 through a collective agreement between the Federal Association of Gardening, Landscaping and Sports Field Construction (BGL) and the industrial union Bauen-Agrar-Umwelt ( IG Bau ) and has its headquarters in the house the landscape in Bad Honnef . The main objective of the AuGaLa is to increase the willingness of companies that are obliged to provide training through a comprehensive range of services and thus to increase both the number of training places and the demand for them. In order to achieve this goal, the training companies are financially supported by assuming a proportion of the training costs and by recruiting young talent. The costs for the funding are distributed to all companies involved in gardening, landscaping and sports field construction (GaLaBau for short). The monthly contribution is 0.8 percent of the gross wage bill. In 2017, almost 17,700 businesses generated a budget of 15.05 million euros.

The use of the total amount of funds is decided by the AuGaLa committees. The funding measures are used as follows:

  • 42% for the costs of inter-company training

- This includes course fees , costs for accommodation and meals, material costs and the travel costs of the trainees (within the scope of the available funds)

- The company is reimbursed for each trainee (in addition to the plant books, brochures and operating booklets) the proportionate training remuneration for periods of inter-company training and vocational school (according to the decision of the committees). The average reimbursement per trainee is EUR 4,841 (based on 2017)

- This includes the use of speakers for recruiting young talent, the creation of advertising material for recruiting young talent and individual advice to companies

  • 2% for further training of the trainers

- The AuGaLa offers a versatile information service and seminars for further training of the trainers as well as trainer specialist conferences for gardening and landscaping
