Ausente is the second feature film by the Argentinian director Marco Berger from 2011.

16-year-old Martín is in the middle of puberty. He wants to live out his homoerotic feelings and chooses his swimming instructor Sebastián. Under all sorts of pretexts and deceptions, he managed to stay with him. Sebastián finally sees through the game and is now confronted with his own feelings and desires.

Awards

  • Teddy Award 2011 as the best feature film with a gay-lesbian or transgender background at the 61st Berlinale .
  • In 2012 Ausente was nominated for the prestigious Argentine film award Cóndor de Plata in two categories. He won a cóndor for the portrayal of the male lead of Javier de Pietro.
