The Blonde (Original Title: Un rubio ) is a 2019 Argentinian fictional film by Marco Berger about two straight men who move in together and, to their surprise, develop feelings for each other.

action

Juan lives in suburban Buenos Aires and has many casual relationships with women. When his roommate moves out, Juan suggests that his work colleague Gabriel move in with him. The silent Gabriel has a young daughter who has lived with his parents since her mother died. An intense physical attraction soon develops between the two men. After initial looks and touches, a loose sexual arrangement emerges. While Gabriel seems ready to get involved in a love affair, Juan gets into an identity conflict through his feelings for Gabriel.

criticism

Dennis Harvey describes the film in the Variety as a reserved, touching drama. Rich Cline writes on Gay Essential that The Blonde is perhaps Marco Berger's best film yet. He praised Nahuel Berger's camerawork and the acting of the two main actors Gastón Re and Alfonso Barón, which made every moment of the film feel real.

publication

The film was first shown at the Mardi Gras Film Festival in Australia . Other festival stations include the Guadalajara International Film Festival and the Istanbul Film Festival . The German premiere of Der Blonde took place on August 26, 2019 at the queer film festival in Berlin and Munich.
