The Hohe Berg is located in the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park , on the northern edge of the Syker Geest , and is the highest point around Bremen in the eastern part of the Syker district of Ristedt . On a clear day you have a good view to the north of the Weser and the skyline of Bremen.
history
In the mid-1970s there was an anti-aircraft missile station with radome domes operated by the US armed forces on the 4.8 hectare site on Hohe Berg . American troops left the position in the mid-1980s, and German troops in 1987. In 2004 the site was acquired by the city of Syke and the Geest cultural landscape project was developed with EU funds .
Observation tower
On the Hohen Berg there is a 13 m high observation tower , created after a student ideas competition held in 2008 by the Bremen University of Applied Sciences, Department of Architecture. In the spring of 2010, the nature adventure tower was erected within a week and now offers a 360 ° panoramic view of the Geest landscape to Bremen and various biotope structures in the area on three viewing platforms at 12 m, 8 m and 4 m high.
