The album is the first that Jimmy LaFave released on the Bohemia Beat label, for which he worked until 2001. Some of the recordings are from two shows LaFave played in Austin , others were recorded at Marcia Balls ' recording studio . The title alludes to the Nashville Skyline published in 1969 by Bob Dylan . Dylan is considered one of LaFave's greatest role models, and four of the 16 original tracks are from the folk singer. Most of the rest of the songs are written by Jimmy LaFave himself. One of the best-known songs on the album, in addition to the covers, is Only One Angel , which is also available on two compilation albums .

On the Allmusic side there was a positive rating, four out of five stars were given. In the "Encyclopedia of Albums" the verdict was also positive, the songs (especially Only One Angel ) were described as soulful and believable. The song Desperate Men Do Desperate Things was also praised . In addition, the Bob Dylan cover songs are very successful, according to the author.
