Austin Smith (born November 25, 1993 in Cumming , Georgia ) is a retired American tennis player .

Career

Austin Smith occasionally played ITF Future Tour tournaments from 2009 and tried to qualify on the ATP Challenger Tour , but never won more than one match in a row. In 2011 he qualified for the Atlanta Tennis Championships , an ATP World Tour tournament , but lost to Denis Kudla there . At the end of the year he was placed in the world rankings for the first time .

After completing an economics degree at the University of Georgia for a few years and playing for the tennis college team, Smith played matches on the professional tour again from mid-2016. Here he made his world tour debut at the BB&T Atlanta Open thanks to a wildcard . Against his compatriot Taylor Fritz he had no chance at 2: 6, 2: 6.

A month later, in Israel, he won his only title on the Future Tour. In addition, he was in doubles three times in the finals without being able to win any of them. He finished the year in singles and doubles within the top 800. After 2016, he did not play any more matches.
