Austwell is a small town in Refugio County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The place is located in southwest Texas on San Antonio Bay , is about 10 km from the Gulf of Mexico and has a total area of 0.9 km 2 , without any significant water surface. About eight miles south of Austwell is the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge , one of the most important sanctuaries for the whooping crane .
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 192 people in 88 households and 60 families lived here. The population density was 205.9 people per km 2 . The racial population is composed of 91.67% white people, 1.56% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific islanders, and 6.77% others ethnic groups. 0.00% are of two or more races and 57.29% of the population are Hispanics or Latinos .
