The Augsburg autobahn lake is located at the Augsburg- East junction of federal autobahn 8 south of the Augsburg airfield .
history
In 1936 and 1937, the motorway lake was dredged to obtain gravel for motorway construction. It then served the Navy SA99 as a training ground. Plans to build a lido with a hotel on the Autobahnsee were destroyed by the outbreak of World War II.
Hydrology
The quarry pond is about 17 hectares in size, up to four meters deep and serves as a lake and fish farming - water . The water quality is regularly checked by the health department.

The Autobahnsee is located just north of the highway and is bordered to the east by Dickelsmoor and the ADAC - Driving Safety Center Augsburg. There are three parking spaces available for those seeking relaxation, as well as lawns, barbecue areas, children's play equipment and toilets. Access is via a path that goes around the lake.
In addition to a kiosk, there is also a beer garden and a restaurant on the lake. A water watch station located directly on the bank ensures the safety of bathers . The lake is also known for the campsite to the west and the jetty specially designed for model boats .
Both the Kaisersee and Derchinger Baggersee are located a short distance from the Autobahn lake .
fishing
The lake serves as a fish farm. The main fish are carp, eel, tench and rainbow trout. You can also fish for pike here all year round, but they are hardly larger than 45 centimeters. Rainbow trout, char and brown trout, which can be caught with spinning rods in the rear part of the lake, are also regularly released . Two hand fishing rods are allowed, only one of which is suitable for predatory fish. Only one rod may be used for spin fishing .
Live bait fish, scales and evisceration of fish are, like on every other German lake, prohibited. One coarse fish per day is allowed, just like fishing from the boat according to the regulation of the city of Augsburg.
