In 1997/98 the internationalization was continued with the acquisition of Sogerba (France), AC Restaurant (Belgium and Netherlands) and parts of Wienerwald (Germany and Austria). In 1999, the US restaurant operator Host Marriott Services was taken over and business activities were expanded into the USA. In 2001 the move to Switzerland took place with the takeover of the Passenger Holding AG. In 2002 Receco in Spain and SMSI Travel Centers Inc in the United States joined the portfolio.

In 2003, Anton Airfood, which specializes in restaurants, was taken over in the United States. In 2005 Autogrill acquired 50% of Aldeasa, Spain's largest operator of airport catering and duty-free shops, as well as 49.9% of the Steigenberger gastronomy operating at Frankfurt am Main Airport . In 2006 the company moved to Canada with the acquisition of the airport catering business from Cara. In 2007, with the acquisition of the Alpha Group, the company entered the airline catering sector for a short time; these activities were discontinued in 2010.

In 2008, the existing service stations of Tank & Rast , AXXE (formerly Metro AG , now Tank & Rast) and privately on the German motorways were taken over. In 2009, motorway service areas were opened in western Austria and Slovenia and managed by Autogrill Schweiz AG.
