Auwa Thiemann

August-Walter "Auwa" Thiemann (born May 15, 1950 in Hamm ; † May 5, 2014 ) was a German professional angler and fishing coach as well as moderator of the TV formats Fish 'n' Fun - the fishing show and fishing duel - two professionals am Hook on DMAX .

Life

At the age of five, the Westphalian began secretly to fish in the spa gardens of his place of residence.

For many years Auwa Thiemann performed as an entertainer, presenter and disc jockey in various East Westphalian entertainment companies. Also as a DJ in the Tanzpalast In Hannover Misburg Kurhaus Friedenstal. He justified z. B. the legendary reputation of "Cafe Europa" in Bielefeld and "Wegener's Tenne" in Löhne-Gohfeld. His funny and pithy announcements showed early on his talent to captivate and entertain others verbally with wit and charm. During this time he remembered his passion for fishing as a counterbalance to his night work. In the period from October 13, 1979 to December 11, 1980, he moderated the TV show Musikladen on ARD together with Manfred Sexauer .

At the beginning of the 1990s, Auwa Thiemann bought the cutter “Big Berta” and turned his hobby into a profession by organizing fishing trips, holding seminars and working as a freelance journalist for major fishing magazines such as Blinker .

Auwa Thiemann died on May 5, 2014 after a short, serious illness. Its ashes were given to the Baltic Sea .

Moderation on DMAX

Auwa Thiemann described himself as an "all-rounder" who had in-depth knowledge of everything from fine float fishing to fly fishing and big games. In his seminars and guiding tours, he was concerned with imparting know-how , tactics and skills. His motto was: "Seeing once is better than hearing a thousand times."

His increasing popularity led various trade magazines to suggest him when they were looking for a suitable presenter for the DMAX reality show Fish 'n' Fun - Die Angelshow . He has moderated this program since 2006 and, together with other professional anglers and beginners, taught important basics and little tricks about fishing. The program was supplemented by preparation tips and recipes on the subject of fish from the “ Junge Wilde ” chef Steffen Sonnenwald.
