Auwers is a small impact crater on the Earth's moon . It is located in the mountainous region of the Montes Haemus on the southern edge of the Mare Serenitatis, southeast of the Menelaus crater . Al-Bakri crater can be seen to the east .
The irregular crater rim of Auwers has a gap in the north-northwest area, which allowed lava flows to access the interior of the crater.
