The Avenida Río Churubusco begins at the Avenida Universidad as part of an urban highway of the Circuito Interior . From here it initially runs in an easterly direction and on its first section forms the border between the districts ( delegaciones ) Benito Juárez in the north and Coyoacán in the south.

To the northeast of the intersection with Avenida Universidad is the Centro Coyoacán shopping mall , which, despite the opposite name, is also in the area of the Delegación Benito Juárez, as is the Coyoacán metro station , one block north , which is served by line 3. To the south of the first street section is the Viveros de Coyoacán park belonging to Coyoacán and on the north side, immediately before the meeting with Eje 1 Poniente (Avenida México-Coyoacán), the Panteón Xoco .

On the south side of the second section of the street is the Museo Casa de León Trotsky at number 410 and to the north of the street, just before the meeting with the Avenida División del Norte, the Alberca Olímpica Francisco Márquez , one of the venues for the 1968 Summer Olympics .

South of the next street section is the Parque Xicoténcatl and behind it the old town center of Churubusco , after which the street presented here is named and which today forms a colonia belonging to the Delegación Coyoacán .

Immediately after the intersection with Calzada de Tlalpan is the Centro Nacional de las Artes on the south side and soon behind it - just a little more than a hundred meters from the street - the extensive grounds of Club Campestre de la Ciudad de México .

Iztapalapa

Just a few meters behind the Country Club (Campestre de la Ciudad de México), the road turns north-east, soon crosses the Iztapalapa district and continues east again after about 1.5 kilometers. Shortly after this bend, it meets the north-south axis Eje 2 Oriente (Calzada de la Viga) and another 1.5 km later on Eje 3 Oriente (Geógrafos).

The division of the road

Soon the road turns again several hundred meters long to the northeast and divides: as Circuito Interior Avenida Río Churubusco , it continues its last section in a northerly direction shortly afterwards and as Eje 4 Oriente (Avenida Río Churubusco) it branches off in a northeast direction from.

Both streets meet in their further course on the Eje 5 Sur (Purísima), the Avenida Canal de Apatlaco, the Avenida Canal de Tezontle, the Eje 4 Sur (which bears the additional name Avenida Té between the two streets, west of the "Circuito Interior "Also known as Avenida Plutarco Elías Calles and east of the" Eje 4 Oriente "also as Avenida San Rafael Atlixco), the Eje 3 Sur and the Viaducto Río Piedad.

Circuito Interior

This approximately 4 km long section of the Circuito Interior Avenida Río Churubusco is home to the UNAM's Escuela Nacional Preparatoria Numero 2 (at the intersection with Avenida Canal de Tezontle) and the headquarters of the Iztacalco district (at the intersection with Eje 4 Sur Avenida Té), which the expressway has crossed since it intersected with Avenida Canal de Apatlaco. On its last section - between the Eje 3 Sur Añil and the Viaducto Río Piedad - are the Palacio de los Deportes (on the west side) and the Ciudad Deportiva Magdalena Mixhuca (on the east side).

Each 4 Oriente

Eje 4 Oriente Avenida Río Churubusco , which branches off from the “Circuito Interior” at Campo de Fútbol Área Federal Central de Abastos , reaches the Plaza Central shopping mall after about 1 km .

In contrast to the Circuito Interior Avenida Río Churubusco , it continues its way north of the meeting with the Viaducto Río Piedad in the Delegación Venustiano Carranza and only 200 meters later it crosses the Calzada General Ignacio Zaragoza, in the south-east of which the Highway 150 to Puebla begins. After about 1.5 km, the road that has previously been in a north-easterly direction leads east to the border with the state of México , where it connects with the Anillo Periferico and runs along the eastern border to the northern border of the capital with the state of México. To the west of the last section is the Alameda Oriente amusement park , on the other side of which is the Benito Juárez International Airport .
