The Aviasud Sirocco is a single-seat ultralight aircraft with nose wheel landing gear made by the French manufacturer Aviasud Engineering in 1983, which was available both as a kit and as a finished aircraft. The propeller is arranged in a pusher configuration . The hull is made of GRP . In 1984, Patrice Franceschi flew a Sirocco while circumnavigating the world .
In 1989 the Belgian company Aériane took over production. In 2007 the rights to the Sirocco were sold to the Dutch manufacturer Aero Consult Light Aircraft. Aero Consult revised the tail unit and wings and developed the AC Sirocco nG from the Scirocco . The Sirocco nG completed its maiden flight in May 2009. It is available both as a kit and in a lighter version in the finished state.
construction
The wings of the single-seat high - decker can be removed for transport. The front part of the wing consists of a spar and a profile nose made of GRP reinforced by a metal spar . The profile is by frames of aluminum formed. The rear spar is made of laminated GRP. The three parts are held together by pressure bars, ropes and the ribs. This ensures the shape and tension of the fabric covering. The wings are attached to the fuselage with ropes and a support beam .
The fuselage and the vertical stabilizer consist of two half-shells made of GRP, which are glued together. The chassis is made of fiberglass-reinforced epoxy resin . The main landing gear is flexible. The nose wheel is controllable and equipped with a drum brake. It is controlled via a lever on the right side of the cockpit.
Two-stroke engines ranging from a König SC 430 RD with 24 HP (18 kW ) to a Rotax 447 with 40 HP (29 kW) are used for the drive . The motor is mounted on the back of the support mast. Starting is done with a manual starter.
The pilot is in a lying position in the cockpit. The cockpit can be removed for flights in warm weather. The aircraft has electrical heating for the winter. The cockpit also has a three-point belt and a fixed seat. The pedals can be adjusted in three positions.
