Axel Bergmann (born September 11, 1949 ) is a former soccer player from the GDR . For FC Hansa Rostock he played in the GDR Oberliga , the highest East German soccer class.

Bergmann played for the company sports club (BSG) Motor Schwerin until 1968 , most recently in the third-class district league . In 1967 he was part of the squad of the GDR junior national team, for which he played six international matches that year. At the beginning of the football season 1968/69 he moved to FC Hansa Rostock, the football focus of the GDR north. There he was initially nominated for the second team playing in the second-rate GDR league and also played the first five point games with her. The 19-year-old miner made his debut in the league team on September 21, 1968. In the 6th matchday between Stahl Riesa and FC Hansa (0-2) he was used as a central defender. In the further course of the league season he was deployed variably in all areas of the team. In total, Bergmann completed 16 league games in 1968/69 , in which he scored two goals. With a fourth place in the final table Hansa had qualified for the competition for the trade fair cup 1969/70 , in which Bergmann made a single appearance on October 1, 1969 in the game Panionios Athens - FC Hansa Rostock (2-0). For the league season 1969/70 he was officially registered for the first team, but played only four league point games until September 1969 and was then only used in the second team, where he became a regular player with 18 point games. Although he was part of the first team again in 1970/71 , he was only used three times in the major league, compared to 24 GDR league games with the second team. Also in his last season with Hansa Rostock, 1971/72 , he played mostly with Hansa II, while he only completed four games in the major league. After 27 league games with three goals and three GDR cup games, Bergmann retired from Hansa Rostock in the summer of 1972.

At almost 23 years old, Bergmann returned to Schwerin, where he rejoined Motor Schwerin for the 1972/73 season, whose team had just been promoted to the GDR league. After a year he moved to local rivals ISG Schwerin-Süd , with whom he rose to the district league in 1975 and the GDR league in 1977. In the meantime he completed his military service between 1974 and 1975 and played in the league team of the army sports community Vorwärts Neubrandenburg during this time . The fourth place in the final table 1979/80 marked Bergmann's most successful season in Schwerin. From 1977 to 1980 he was team captain, in 1983 he ended his career as a football player at the age of 33. At the end of the 1980s, Bergmann was the coach of the 1st ISG team.
