Axel Flessner

Axel Flessner (born December 22, 1935 in Hamburg ) is a German legal scholar .

After attending school in Bavaria and Hamburg, he studied law at the universities of Hamburg , Freiburg i. Br. , Munich and New Orleans (USA). After completing his legal traineeship in Hamburg, Flessner received his doctorate and habilitation there. Before his retirement he held the chair for German, European and international private law and comparative law at the Humboldt University in Berlin .

Flessner is co-editor of the Zeitschrift für Europäische Privatrecht (ZEuP) and spokesman for the graduate school »European Private and Business Law«

In the EU elections in 2009, he ran on the federal list for referendums .
