Axel Schmiegelow (born June 3, 1972 in Hamburg ) is a German entrepreneur , founder and investor in start-up companies in the social media sector .

Life

Axel Schmiegelow studied law at the Sorbonne University from 1990 to 1992 and at the University of Cologne from 1992 to 1995 . His focus was on business law and international law. Schmiegelow founded an internet agency with partners in May 1998. As the founder and managing director of a management consultancy, Axel Schmiegelow invests in various startups that focus on IT products and digital services. His active portfolio includes armedangels and itravel. The former holdings include a. coupies, Qype, sevenload and PaperC. In the role of management as well as on the company's supervisory board, he was actively responsible for the development of these various holdings over several years.

Since 2012, his entrepreneurial activity has essentially focused on building itravel as a platform for individual modular trips.

For the specialist group Social Media in the Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft (BVDW) e. V. and for the working group IPTV / WebTV in the Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM) e. V. Axel Schmiegelow was elected chairman from 2009 to 2010. In 2009 he was a deputy member of the WDR Broadcasting Council . Before that he was Vice President of the Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft e. V.
