Axel Sjöblad

Axel Erland Sjöblad (born November 3, 1967 in Malmö ) is a former Swedish handball player .

Axel Sjöblad, who is 1.96 m tall and weighed 90 kg when he was active, played as a circuit runner for LUGI HF in Lund and UMS Pontault-Combault in France. Sjöblad made his debut in the Swedish national team in 1988. At the 1990 World Cup , he surprisingly beat the Soviet team in the final and became world champion. At the Olympic Games in 1992 he was subject to the selection of the CIS and won the silver medal. By 1993 he played 75 international matches in which he scored 83 goals.

Axel Sjöblad works as a TV commentator for Swedish television and as Regional Vice President Sales for Gambro in Lund.
