Axel Vornam (* 1956 in Castrop-Rauxel ) is a German theater director .

Life

In 1967 he and his parents moved to the GDR . First he trained as a commercial clerk, after which he worked as an actor and director in the student theater in Leipzig. Between 1980 and 1985 he studied acting and directing at the Ernst Busch University in Berlin . From 1985 to 1988 he worked as a director at the Meininger Theater, from 1988 he was acting director at the Rudolstädter Theater in Rudolstadt ( Thuringia ). From 1995 to 1998 he was the director of the theater in the Vorpommern Theater (formerly Stralsund Theater ), and between 1998 and 2001 he was freelance. From 2001 to 2003 he worked as chief director at the Landestheater Schleswig-Holstein and staged more than 70 plays: For example by Shakespeare, Goethe, Schiller, Büchner, Lessing, Kleist, Euripides, Hölderlin, Ibsen, Heiner Müller, Hauptmann, Beckett, Wilde, Fo , Goldoni, Schwab, Jonigk, Chatten, Molière, Labiche, Bronnen, Bukowski. From 2003 he worked as artistic director and managing director at Theater Rudolstadt, where he had been acting director from 1988 to 1995. There he created the entire spectrum of a three-branch house ( drama , music theater , dance theater ). At the time, it was considered a "unique concept in Germany" because it served all areas of a theater. The success at the Thuringian Theater Rudolstadt was significant:

The theater was able to establish itself in Rudolstadt under his direction. Rudolstadt, which was merged with Eisenach, was the first theater in the new federal states to regain its independence . "

In autumn 2006 his work was honored at the Thuringian Theater Rudolstadt. The trade journal Theater today nominated the house as Theater of the Year for the best overall artistic performance.

On February 15, 2007, he was elected artistic director of the Heilbronn City Theater by the Heilbronn municipal council, and has been director of it since September 2008.
