Civil Parish Axmouth

Axmouth is a village and civil parish in the East Devon district in the English county of Devon , England and is not far from the mouth of the River Ax . The village itself is about a kilometer away from the coast, but the area of ​​the Parish extends to the sea. The place is not far from Seaton and Beer on the opposite bank of the estuary that forms the estuary. According to the 2001 census, Axmouth had 493 residents.

history

In the mid-14th century, Axmouth was an important port, through which about 15% of the shipping traffic at that time was handled. The remains of a fishing boat from the late Middle Ages can be seen directly west of the village at low tide in the bed of the River Ax.
