Aymon de Châtillon († July 26, 1323 ) was Bishop of Sion from 1308 to 1323 .

Life

Aymon came from a sideline of the lords of Challant , who were wealthy in the Aosta Valley and who derived their name from Châtillon in the Aosta Valley. He was the son of Godefroy and Marie Grossi du Châtelar. Aymon was Canon of Tarentaise in 1294 and Archdeacon of Aosta from 1294 to 1297 . In Sion he became canon in 1297, dean in 1307 and bishop in 1308. Aymon issued synodal and chapter statutes several times. In 1319 he reaffirmed the monopoly of the cathedral chapter in relation to the notaries . In a process between the cathedral chapter and its relative, the Vitztum von Anniviers , he intervened in favor of the latter. Aymon used the income from vacant fiefs to expand the cathedral and church of Valeria .
