Béatrice von Boch-Galhau , b. Béatrice Dodd (born August 1, 1914 in Wentorf near Hamburg ; † March 13, 2011 in Mettlach ) was a German entrepreneur and patron .

Life

She was the daughter of the British businessman Arthur Edgar Dodd and his Hamburg wife Emilia born. Tiefenbacher . In September 1935, she married since 1932 Acting Director General and then even smaller shareholders in the seventh generation of Villeroy & Boch , Luitwin von Boch-Galhau (1906-1988). In 1970 the company had sales of 579 million DM. Over the years, Luitwin von Boch-Galhau became the largest partner in V & B. The couple had five children between 1936 and 1949, including Luitwin Gisbert von Boch-Galhau and Princess Milicent zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich.

Béatrice von Boch-Galhau was committed to helping orphaned children all her life. In 1957 she was the initiator and 1959 founder of the SOS Children's Village Saar in Merzig-Hilhaben . She supported numerous other projects and was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class on September 16, 1969 for her commitment .

In 1970 she was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Eugène Cardinal Tisserant and invested in Cologne Cathedral on December 5, 1970 by Lorenz Cardinal Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . She was most recently a Grand Officer of the Order.
