Béla Fischer

Béla Fischer (born February 4, 1959 in Bratislava ) is a Slovak-Austrian composer, conductor, pianist and music teacher.

Life

Fischer began studying music in his hometown when he was five. He studied composition and violin at the Conservatory and the Music Academy in Bratislava .

He has been working in Austria since 1981, where he worked as a ballet répétiteur at the Vienna State Opera from 1990 to 1993 . In 1996 he received a fixed engagement at the Volksoper , where he was Ballettkorrepetitor, conductor and arranger of ballet evenings and soirees acts. He developed a version for chamber orchestra for the first performance of the Offenbach-Nestroy operetta " Chief Evening Wind " and took over the musical direction.

Béla Fischer worked as a conductor for various stages in Vienna, such as the Theater der Jugend , Freie Bühne Wieden and his own salon orchestra . Guest performances and tours have taken him to the Budapest State Opera , the Augsburg , Baden near Vienna and Bonn theaters as well as to Israel , Italy , Japan , Russia and Switzerland .

Since 2008 Fischer has been a professor at the Vienna Conservatory .

His works as a composer include the musical “Schani” about Johann Strauss, a requiem, the world premiere of which took place in Vienna in May 2009, the musical “Die Räuber” based on the drama by Friedrich Schiller, which premiered in Germany, and the musical “Abschied von Sidonie ”, which was premiered in 2011 as part of the Steyr Music Summer.

Fischer has two sons, Béla jun. and Michael, who also work as musicians, and a little daughter, Helene. He has been married to Susanne Marik since August 2015 .
