Bénézet Bujo

Bénézet Bujo (born April 4, 1940 in Drodro ) is a Congolese Roman Catholic moral theologian.

Life

He studied philosophy and theology in the DR Congo . After receiving his doctorate in 1977/1978 and habilitation in Würzburg in 1983, he taught from 1978 to 1988 as a full professor at the Catholic Theological Faculty in Kinshasa . From 1984 to 1996 he was a visiting lecturer at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi. In 1985 he was the first visiting professor at “Intercultural Theology” at the Department of Catholic Theology at Goethe University . From 1987 to 1988 he was visiting professor at Saarland University . From 1991 to 2017 he was visiting professor at Hekima College in Nairobi (2011); at the Universities of Lund (1991), Johannesburg (2003–2004), Antananarivo (Université Catholique de Madagascar) (2017). From 2011 to 2015 he was theological advisor to Caritas Africa. He is co-editor of the study series "Théologie africaine". From 1989 to 2010 he taught as a professor for moral theology, social ethics and African theology at the University of Friborg .
