The county or vice-county of Bénauges or Benauge was in the Bordelais . The Bordelais is a landscape in southwest France. Its center is the city of Bordeaux . The county essentially consisted of Cadillac , Cantois and Castelviel . Today the area belongs to the Gironde department .

The Benauge Castle is located in the municipality of Arbis southwest of the village.
