Jean Louis de Nogaret de La Valette (* May 1554 at Caumont Castle in Cazaux-Savès , † January 13, 1642 in Loches ) was Duke of Épernon and a French military man .

Life

Like his father Jean de Valette and his grandfather Pierre de Nogaret, sieur de Valette, Jean-Louis pursued a career in the military. He took part in the unsuccessful siege of La Rochelle in 1573 and in the sieges of La Charité-sur-Loire and Issoire (1577) as part of the Huguenot Wars . Before La Rochelle he met the Duke of Anjou , the future King Henry III.
