Governor of Provence
The governor or seneschal of Provence administered the county of Provence on behalf of the French king.
The last Count of Provence, Charles V of Maine , had, since he remained without descendants, the French King Louis XI for Provence . used to inherit. With Charles's death in 1481, Provence fell to the French crown and was integrated into the Domaine royal . Louis XI. appointed a governor to rule the country for him.
