Beauvau is a very old family of the French nobility from the Anjou .

history

The Beauvau du Rivau branch settled in Brittany and provided two bishops of Nantes (Gabriel de Beauvau, 1636–1667, and Jean François de Beauvau, 1677–1717). The Beauvau-Craon branch became native to Lorraine .

As relatives of the Counts of Anjou , the Beauvau entered the service of the kings of France in the 13th century , the family joined the royal family in 1454 through the marriage of Isabeau de Beauvau to John VIII of Bourbon , Count of Vendôme († 1478 ).

King Louis XIV conferred the title of marquis de Beauvau in 1664 ; In addition, the family carries the honorary title of cousin du Roi , which is reserved for those who are related to the French royal family.

Marc de Beauvau (1679-1754) was on November 13, 1723 by Emperor Charles VI. in the Imperial Prince applicable; he was the owner of herzogl. Lorraine court offices and most recently Austrian viceroy of Tuscany. With this title, the family was admitted to the Honors de la Cour in 1775 .
