Bølgen ( English The Wave , German  Die Welle ) is a nine-storey residential building that has been under construction since 2007 on Skyttehusbugten in the Danish town of Vejle , which is located directly on the Vejlefjord not far from a marina in the port of Vejle (Vejle Havn) . Because of its unusual shape, its size and its exposed location to the fjord, the building complex received several awards even before its completion and is being traded as the city's new landmark. For the undulating roof, which is covered with white glazed tiles, the planners were inspired by the Sydney Opera House and the hilly landscape around Vejle.

The complex consists of five wave-shaped connected houses, two of which were completed by 2009. They house 115 luxury apartments on an area of ​​14,000 m², ranging in size from 84 to 167 m² and costing between three and 13 million Danish kroner . The most expensive condominiums are two-story penthouse apartments with a living space of 250 m². On both sides of the apartments there are 10 to 20 m² balconies, from which the fjord and the Vejlefjordbroen motorway bridge can be seen on the east side and the city center on the west side.

The first groundbreaking of the hitherto “most expensive residential project west of the Great Belt ” was on October 10, 2007. The client is the local real estate company Bertel Nielsen A / S.

The Copenhagen architects Henning Larsen Architects A / S won an architectural competition announced by Vejle Municipality in 2005 and received the international architecture prizes LEAF Award (2010) and the Civic Trust Award (2011), which has been in place since 1959, in addition to the local Vejle Prize is awarded. The building was named Årets Byggeri ( Building of the Year ) in 2009 by Byggeri , a trade magazine for the Danish construction industry .
