The Austrian Library Association (BVÖ) is an Austrian librarian association based in Vienna .

Umbrella organization

As an umbrella organization, it represents the interests of public libraries in Austria and sees service, advice and information for its more than 2,100 member libraries as its tasks. He also represents school , hospital and prison libraries and cooperates with library associations abroad. The BVÖ is an association and not a personal association.

Training providers

Together with the Federal Institute for Adult Education (BIfEB) St. Wolfgang, the Austrian Library , the ÖGB-Büchereiservice and the Federal Chancellery , the association offers training courses for all librarians in public libraries.

He also publishes the magazine Büchereiperspektiven .

The BVÖ publishes the Austrian library statistics from the statistics submitted by the public libraries every year.
The Austrian Library Association is responsible for the editorial support of the
Austrian system for public libraries .
