history
At the time when Luxembourg was a fortress, the Limpertsberg was outside this fortress behind the glacis , part of the fortress .
In 1755, the construction of the Nikolaus Church on the Limpertsberg, outside the city walls, began. Otto Linnemann from Frankfurt created all of the glass windows for the church on Limpertsberg in 1912 . Shown were u. a .: 2 scenes from the life of the Egyptian Joseph, the Annunciation, the birth of Christ, the flight into Egypt, Joseph's death, the crucifixion. There are numerous sketches and old photos in the Linnemann archive. Otto Linnemann also designed the stained glass windows of the Sacred Heart Church in the train station district of Luxembourg City.
After the London Treaty of 1867, through which the fortress was razed , the city could also expand on the Limpertsberg. It settled rose nurseries , which export their flowers in the world.
