Jean Engling

Jean (Johann) Engling (born October 13, 1801 in Christnach , Luxembourg ; † March 13, 1888 in Marienhaff, Luxembourg) was a Luxembourg theologian , chaplain , local historian and pedagogue .

biography

Engling worked between 1841 and 1869 as a teacher in Echternach and from 1841 to 1869 as a teacher of philosophy and theology at the Luxembourg Athenaeum. From 1845 he taught as a professor of philosophy and theology at the seminary in Luxembourg. Engling was President of the Archaeological Society between 1853 and 1876, and until his death in 1885, which became the historical section of the Grand Ducal Institute in 1868.

Honors

A street in the Dommeldange district of Luxembourg is named after Jean Engling.
