BA Records was a German independent label from Hamburg and the forerunner of the Grand Hotel van Cleef label .

history

It was founded in 1996 by Marcus Wiebusch . The label was home to the bands Rantanplan and ... But Alive , in which Wiebusch played. Wiebusch later also signed Thees Uhlmann's band Tomte and released their first album in 1998, You know what I mean . In addition, BA Records distributed in Germany (not published on its own label) records of the Canadian punk band Propagandhi and their offshoot The Weakerthans as well as the Canadian hardcore band I Spy .

In 2002, Wiebusch merged BA Records with the Hotel van Cleef label , which Uhlmann had founded Tomte's second album Eine Sonnige Nacht for 2000 , as it could not appear on BA Records due to Wiebusch's lack of time. This is how the label Grand Hotel van Cleef came into being, on which the albums of the ... But Alive and Rantanplan follow-up projects Kettcar and Tomtes have appeared since then .
