The CD version of the album includes the hidden track Adam & Eva after the last song and a break . The song is directed against the use of the word fagot as an insult in hip-hop .

Contents of the songs

Thees Uhlmann wrote all the songs on the album by himself except for the song Gorillas im Küstennebel , which Christian Stemmann wrote. Accordingly, Uhlmann's personal experiences and events play a major role in many of the songs. Various pieces deal, among other things, with the trip to England that Uhlmann's father undertook as a youth ( with the moped to England ), concerts that Uhlmann experienced or organized himself ( Wilhelm, that was nothing ) or his friendship with Rick McPhail .

In the individual songs there are some quotes and references to bands that are friends or admired by Tomte. The song line "I'm ready, give Korn & Sprite" quotes the corresponding line "I'm feeling supersonic, give me Gin and Tonic" from the song Supersonic by the band Oasis . The title Wilhelm, daswas nothing refers to The Smiths play William It Was Really Nothing . There are also translated quotes or references to the bands Run DMC , Modest Mouse and Low . Moreover, it is The Rick McPhail song Rick McPhail , the former roadie and current member of the band Tocotronic dedicated. The piece Yves, how do you hold it off is aimed at the soccer player Yves Eigenrauch .

reception

Reviews

Armin Linder from Plattentests.de gave the album 8 out of 10 points and particularly praised the songs for "depth and melody". In the fun and joy that Tomte have in music and which is also transmitted to the listener, he sees parallels to the works from the early years of the band Tocotronic . What he finds most impressive, however, is the special emotional and personal level in Uhlmann's texts, which "let the heart open" and says: "[...] you no longer know whether to laugh or cry. Probably the latter. "

successes

Tomte failed to enter the German album charts with Eine Sonnige Nacht . In the readers' charts of the music magazine Spex , the album landed at number 50. Although no singles were extracted from the album, the music videos for the songs Korn & Sprite and Wilhelm, that was nothing were occasionally played on music television and also regularly played on Concerts made both, and especially the former, indie hits that are still often heard in indie discos even today.
