Jan Klaas Müller (born June 1, 1971 in Hamburg ) is a German musician who plays bass guitar for the Hamburg rock band Tocotronic . On the LP / CD After Lost Time , he sings the song It's just rock music . He studied law for some time in Hamburg, but just like his bandmates Dirk von Lowtzow and Arne Zank , he dropped out to turn to music.

In addition to Tocotronic, he also plays in the bands Das Bierbeben and Dirty Dishes (with Rasmus Engler ). With the latter he recorded a 7 '' called Endlich Ferien in 2006 . In December 2007 the LP Tea is not our Cup of Coffee was released, in 2008 the CD Mit uns! . He is also a member of the artist group in the name of the people (KiNdV)

Together with the music manager Oliver Frank he runs the Müller + Frank music publishing house .

Vera Vogt's 2001 documentary So Young We Don't Come Together (based on a song title by Tocotronic) is about Jan Müller and three of his childhood friends - all former punks from Hamburg - and their different résumés.

Since 2019, Müller has been talking to other musicians in his podcast Reflektor about their musical socialization and Müller's points of contact with the musical work of the guests.
