Dirk von Lowtzow

Dirk von Lowtzow [ ˈloːtsoː ] (born March 21, 1971 in Offenburg ) is a singer and guitarist for the German rock band Tocotronic , composer and author. Since 2001 he has also published music under the name Phantom / Ghost together with Thies Mynther ( Stella , Superpunk , ...) . He also lent his voice to pieces by Sharon Stoned , Justus Köhncke , Tilman Rossmy and DJ Koze .
Career
In 2003 Dirk von Lowtzow published the audio book HP Lovecraft : Pickman's Model for Deutsche Grammophon ; Music by Erich Zann .
For the SWR2 feature The Secret of Borrowed Money - Investigations into German National Debt by Jens Jarisch , he took on the role of speaker. The broadcast on March 13, 2007 also contains music by Tocotronic. In 2007 his book Dekade was published by the Buchholz Gallery . It contains a selection of Tocotronic texts, photos of the band and pictures of artist friends. The edition was 800 copies. Dirk von Lowtzow is a member of the advisory board of the magazine Texte zur Kunst , for which he also works as an author. He also supports the Amadeu Antonio Foundation's “Action Weeks Against Anti-Semitism” . In 2015 he wrote and arranged the music for René Pollesch's “Von ein Who moved out because he could no longer afford the rent” at the Volksbühne Berlin .
In 2016 he covered the Stereolab song “French Disko” together with the band Beatsteaks , the cover functions as the title song for the book adaptation of Tschick .
In 2019, Dirk von Lowtzow published his first book Aus dem Dachsbau in Verlag Kiepenheuer & Witsch , which contains autobiographical texts about his childhood and adolescence in alphabetical order of keywords.
