The EL 30 T series from the Aue mining equipment company (BBA) is an electric locomotive that was built from 1980 to 1985. A total of nine EL 30 T were built for mining company 9 of SDAG Wismut .
development
In mining operation 9, a powerful contact wire locomotive was required for the main lines. Since the LEW EL 6, which was also used in operation, was not suitable for all routes due to its size, it was decided to build this tandem locomotive based on the B 660 as a model . EL 30 acted as donor locomotives .
Constructive features
mechanics
In the workshop of mining company 9, the EL 30 T was built from two EL 30s. The locomotive has an outer frame that was the supporting structure. The driver's cab of a B 660 was hung as a sedan chair between the two donor locomotives placed opposite one another. The original driver's cabs of the EL 30 were cut off horizontally at the height of the portal and the entrance was closed with a steel plate. A hand spindle brake serves as a parking brake.
Electrics
Each of the four axes is driven by a drive motor . The parallel connected direct current series motors are controlled by resistors. The travel and braking levels can be selected with the cam switch. In addition to the mechanical parking brake, it has an electrical resistance brake. The locomotive has a dead man's switch integrated into the drive switch , which is operated with the left foot. It is used for occupational safety by preventing the locomotive from being operated while the driver is outside the driver's cab. Due to the restricted clearance below ground , driving without a train driver had led to serious, often fatal accidents at work.
Others
Two EL 30 T were handed over to the Plauen park railway around 2000/2001 . These locomotives were converted to single pantographs that were attached to the roof of the driver's cab. The two motor vehicles were provided with wedge-shaped covers. The name was not changed.
