The BBC Neptune class is a two time being bulk comprehensive ship class of Leer shipping company Briese shipping . The ships are long-term chartered out to the subsidiary BBC Chartering . The two ships are the largest ships in the fleet at Briese and BBC Chartering and are therefore considered flagships.

Both ships were launched in 2010 in the Chinese shipyard Tianjin Xingang Shipyard and have been classified by Lloyd's Register .

The ships have a deadweight capacity of around 37,700  dwt at a draft of 10.40 m. By 12,060 kW paid six-cylinder Wärtsilä - motor , the maximum speed is 14  knots . At full load, the consumption is around 29 t HFO per day at sea

The ships are designated by the shipping company as mobile phone bulkers , although most sources set the upper size limit for mobile phone bulkers at around 35,000 dwt.

The dimensions are also unusual for a modern bulk carrier: today's bulkers with a length of around 190 m usually have a load capacity of around 45,000 dwt to 55,000 dwt, as they are much larger (usually 32 m, i.e. Panamax ) and have a greater depth. The fact that the draft and the width of these ships is significantly reduced compared to other ships means that a larger number of smaller ports can be called at, since the length of bulk carriers is usually not the limiting factor.

The ship type is equipped with four 30 t cranes from NMF . The ships have five holds, which together have a volume of 48,955 m³.
