The BSG Chemie Radebeul was a company sports association from Radebeul in the Dresden district . She was known for her women's handball department, which played in the highest league in GDR handball, and for her soccer department, which once qualified for the FDGB Cup .

history

BSG Chemie Radebeul follows the tradition of Radebeul BC , which was founded in 1908. In order to keep the footballers playing, the club entered into a war sports association with Brandenburg 01 Dresden during the First World War , which was dissolved again after the war. After the Second World War , the association was dissolved like all other associations in the Soviet occupation zone by a resolution of the Soviet occupying power .

Radebeul initially only held the top division of the Dresden district for one season. The team qualified for the FDGB Cup in the 1954/55 season . The club had a soccer department until 2008. In that year, the department split off from the club and, together with the soccer department of SSV Planeta Radebeul, founded the Radebeuler BC 08 , which is supposed to tie in with the soccer tradition of the historic club. The club is currently playing in the Landesliga Sachsen after winning the Landesklasse Ost in the 2016/17 season.
