Jan Seifert (born October 14, 1968 in Brand-Erbisdorf ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Career

Jan Seifert began his professional career at Chemnitzer FC . Via SC Freiburg, for which he was once used in the Bundesliga and VfB Leipzig , he came to FSV Zwickau , where he made a name for himself as a defender. With SpVgg Unterhaching he achieved the greatest success of his career, promotion to the Bundesliga . In two years he made 60 appearances for Unterhaching in the Bundesliga in which he scored 5 goals. He made two descents in a row to the Regionalliga Süd before he retired to Dynamo Dresden in his home country. Seifert scored 19 goals in 191 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and five goals in 61 games in the 1st Bundesliga. Seifert played for FC Karl-Marx-Stadt on September 13, 1989 in the UEFA Cup against Boavista Porto . It was his only game in the competition.

From 2008 he still played for Leubnitzer SV 1898.

After a season as a player at Dynamo Dresden, Seifert moved to the coaching staff in the summer of 2005. He coached the second team at Dynamo until 2007 and when he changed coach on September 25, 2007, he became Eduard Geyer's assistant coach for the first team. As a result of the leave of absence of Geyer's successor Ruud Kaiser , Seifert took over the coaching position for the second team again on October 5, 2009. In July 2010 Seifert took over the national league club Radebeuler BC 08 .

On April 25, 2013 it was announced that Seifert was committed to the 2013/14 season as coach of the 2nd team of Dynamo Dresden. His contract was originally valid until June 30, 2015. However, since April 2014 Seifert has been director of the Dynamo Dresden youth academy; thus he was released from his job as a coach from the 2014/15 season. His contract with Dynamo has been extended several times and currently runs until June 2021.
