The BSV Müssen is a football club in the district of Müssen of the city of Lage in North Rhine-Westphalia. The first football team of the women played nine years in the second class at the time Regional League West and took four times German Cup part.

history

The association was founded in 1951 by dissatisfied members of TuS Müssen-Billinghausen . This club founded a football department two years earlier, but in the following years there were numerous differences of opinion about training times or the use of the sports fields on Sundays. Finally, some members of the football department founded the BSV.

Women's soccer

The women's team made it to the Regionalliga West in 1990, which was only second class after the introduction of the Bundesliga in the same year. Four years later, the BSV won the Westphalia Cup after a 3-1 final win over SG Lütgendortmund . The sporting highlight was the 1995/96 season, in which the team came third behind SG Wattenscheid 09 and SSG Bergisch Gladbach . Three years later, the BSV was relegated from the regional league before the department was dissolved a little later.

BSV Müssen took part in the women's DFB Cup four times, but was always eliminated after the first game. It was the tightest at the premiere in the 1992/93 season , when the BSV lost 1-0 to Bundesliga club VfB Rheine . A year later , the team lost their first round match against Grün-Weiß Brauweiler with 0: 5. In the following two years the BSV received a bye for the first round. Nevertheless, the end came in round two against FC Eintracht Rheine ( 1994/95 , 1: 4) and FC Rumeln-Kaldenhausen ( 1995/96 , 0: 7).
