Başyurt (Kurdish Zaxuran ) is a Kurdish village in the Midyat district of the Turkish province of Mardin . It is located in southeastern Anatolia at 900 m above sea level, about 40 km east of Midyat.

The original place name was Zahuran. It is registered in this form at the land registry and was also used as an alternative name in censuses.

On January 23, 1987, a 15-man strong unit of the PKK's ARGK attacked the hamlet of Efeler, which belongs to Başyurt, during the night. They shot with automatic weapons and set fire to several houses. The purpose of the action was to punish two Kurdish families whose men had joined the village guards . Ten people were killed, including seven children and young children.

In 1965 the population was 1,566. In 1985, 1,105 people lived in Başyurt. In 2009 the village had 805 inhabitants.
