The Bad Innerlaterns (also: Bad Laterns, Bädle or Hinteres Laternserbad, Hinterbad, inner Laternserbad, 1147  m above sea level ) was a spa and inn (now only an inn) in Laterns ( Vorarlberg , Austria ) and is located on the plot "Bädle" on the state road L 51.

Both the inn and the former bath house are listed buildings.

history

The beginning of the bathing operation in Bad Innerlaterns is not known. On May 24, 1673, the Vogteiamt on Feldkircher Schattenburg granted the complaint of Rankweiler Landammann Anton Sonderegger that the Alpgenossen, Badmeister Franz Weltin and the municipality of Laterns had opened a footbridge that had previously existed near Bad Innerlaterns by a storm to rebuild their own costs and maintain them in the future. The bathroom supervisor had to meet half of the costs.

In 1842 the bath was bought by the Altenstadt (Feldkirch) community and the chapel that still exists today was built in 1870 (see: Bad Innerlaterns Chapel ).

Today there is a restaurant in the bathhouse (Gasthaus Bädle) and this is a popular starting point for hikes, e.g. B. on the Hohe Freschen .

Bathing and healing spring

The healing spring was a cold iron / sulfur spring with a water temperature of 6 to 9 ° C. The bathroom was of greatest importance in the 19th century.

The bath was not mentioned in Eduard Jos Koch's treatise from 1843: “ A treatise on mineral springs in general scientific terms and a description of all baths and wells known in the Austrian monarchy ”. The healing water is said to have helped against rheumatism, nervous disorders and sciatica.

Geography / topography

Bad Innerlaterns is located on the southern border of the municipality of Laterns with the municipality of St. Gerold , about 7 km as the crow flies from the village center of Laterns, 15 km from Feldkirch and 33 km from Lake Constance , in the rear third of the Laternsertal . The Badbach, which flows into the Frutz, passes about 80 m southeast of Bad Laterns (about 1.16 km long). The Badbach arises at GwKm 1.16 from the confluence of the Garnitzabach and another nameless brook.

To the south-west behind the bath house is a fish pond of around 1250 m 2 . To the northwest, directly in front of the bathhouse, the L 51 leads past.

All around the Bad Laterns there are plots that remind of the former importance and function of the bath, such as B. Badegg, Badwald, Bädle, Schweabel, Hinterbad, bathing jetty.
