The Baden-Powell Peak is located in a mountain range in the central Himalayas south of the river valley of Langtang Khola in the Nepalese Administrative Region Bagmati .
The mountain is located about 1.5 km west of Naya Kanga in the southwest of Langtang National Park . The 5826 m (according to other information: 5718 m) high mountain was originally called Urkema Peak and was renamed in 2007 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Scout Movement in honor of its founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell .
First ascent
The first ascent of Baden-Powell Peak was carried out by an international scout team from Australia, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Nepal. The first person to reach the summit was Australian Mark Mangles on September 12, 2007 around noon.
