Bae Yong-joon (born August 29, 1972 in Seoul , South Korea ) is a South Korean actor .

He has a younger sister. He made his debut in 1994 in the KBS - Drama 사랑 의 인사 Sarang-ui Insa . His biggest hit, however, was his role in the drama " Winter Sonata " ( kor. 겨울 연가 Gyeoul yeonga ) from 2002 on KBS2. Especially with the success of Korean productions in Asia, so has its fame among Asian fans. Especially in Japan he is very well known as " Yon-sama " ( Japanese ヨ ン 様 ) and as a star has contributed a lot to the further development of the Korean wave . Since then there has also been a special branch of tourism in Korea; Fans of movie stars visit the original locations and special fan meetings are organized for the mostly female fans. Women, especially middle-aged, suddenly developed a keen interest in Korean courses. With KeyEast Bae had its own agency, which he led for 14 years. In 2018 he sold his shares in SM Entertainment .

He has been married to actress Park Soo-jin since July 2015. The couple have two children.
