Bagarius rutilus is a species of fish from the genus of the devil catfish ( Bagarius ) and the family of the mountain catfish (Sisoridae). It occurs in the river systems of the Nam Ma and the Red Riversin Southeast Asia.

Bagarius rutilus reaches a body length of up to about one meter. The head is broad and flattened, with a large, wide mouth and four pairs of barbels , the pair of which have a well-developed membrane on the upper jaw. The animals are dark yellow with three dark brown bands or spots on the back and a few smaller brown spots on the body. The skin is heavily keratinized and has numerous large, elongated nodules on the head and along the spine. The belly is lighter yellow. The fins are orange with brown spots distributed irregularly. The dorsal fin has one hard ray and six soft rays, the anal fin 12 or 13 soft rays. The latter sits behind the short-based and at the end free adipose fin . The pelvic fins have 12 or 13 rays, the caudal fin has eight or nine rays.
