The Bürmoos station is the station of the municipality of Bürmoos in the state of Salzburg and is operated by Salzburg AG . It is an important operating point on the Salzburg – Lamprechtshausen railway and the starting point for the Bürmoos – Ostermiething railway .

history

The Bürmoos station was initially opened in 1896 as a through station on the Salzburg – Lamprechtshausen railway line. At that time the travel time from Bürmoos to Salzburg with the steam-powered local trains was 67 minutes. The station was built and operated as the entire stretch of the as Salzburg Localbahn known Salzburg Railway and Tramway Company . The station included next to the reception building a goods shed, a loading track and a connection to Bürmooser glassworks of Ignaz Glaser . Glaser, whose glassworks was instrumental in the development of the Bürmoos community, had made a significant contribution to the construction of the railway line via Bürmoos. A groundwater well was also part of the station complex, which in the period that followed, until a central water supply was set up, also served parts of the Bürmoos residents for drinking water. In 1929 a siding was added to the Zehmemoos peat factory. In 1944, the Deutsche Reichsbahn planned to build a repair shop at the Bürmoos station , but the construction that had begun also came to a quick end with the end of World War II .

Since 1951, the Bürmoos – Trimmelkam railway has branched off in Bürmoos , turning the station into a branch station . A year earlier, the Salzburger Stadtwerke had electrified the line to Lamprechtshausen and thus the Trimmelkam station with direct current. The line to Trimmelkam, electrified from the start, was owned by the Salzach-Kohlenbergbau-Gesellschaft (SAKOG) and operated on their behalf by Stern & Hafferl . At first only freight trains ran to Trimmelkam, and since 1952 passenger trains too. The previously modest through station was significantly expanded to accommodate the additional trains, as all coal trains from Trimmelkam in Bürmoos had to change direction . Shortly after the branching point of the two lines to Salzburg and Trimmelkam, the additional station “Bürmoos stop” was built on the Trimmelkamer track. This stop , only 200 meters away from the Bürmoos train station , was used until 1980 when trains from Trimmelkam were unable to enter due to shunting work or the arrival of a train from Salzburg. Since the station entrance was rebuilt, parallel entrances have been possible.

The goods shed, demolished in 2016, in February 2013

The line to Trimmelkam was extended to Ostermiething in 2014 ; previously it had been sold by SAKOG to Salzburger Stadtwerke in 1994. Until then, the station had been operated jointly by Stadtwerke and Stern & Hafferl. In the summer of 2016, the no longer used goods shed was demolished to create more parking spaces for commuter traffic.

Track plan

The Bürmoos station has three tracks for passenger traffic. Track 1 is intended for the trains between Ostermiething and Bürmoos. Tracks 2 and 3 are used by trains between Lamprechtshausen and Salzburg . There are also two tracks for freight traffic.

traffic

Bürmoos station is a hub in the Salzburg S-Bahn network and is served by five to six trains every hour: two to Salzburg (S 1), two to Lamprechtshausen (S 1) and one / two to Ostermiething (S 11). Trains from Ostermiething mostly end in Bürmoos, but occasionally they are tied through to Salzburg. If this is the case, they have to change their direction of travel in Bürmoos. So-called local express trains with a few stops make the journey between Salzburg and Bürmoos in under half an hour.

On working days (Monday to Friday) there are reinforcement trips for commuters in the direction of Salzburg and in the afternoon until evening there are half-hourly trains to Ostermiething. In addition, there are occasional seasonal special trips with historical train sets.

There is no connection to a bus network at the Bürmoos train station.
