The former train station and current stop at Bad Dürrenberg is on the Leipzig – Großkorbetha railway line . The former station building is listed in the local register of monuments under registration number 094 20575 as a monument .

General

The Dürrenberg station was opened on March 22, 1856, and from 1866 the connecting line to the Royal Prussian Saltworks went into operation, which was discontinued in 1963. In 1927 the name was changed to Bad Dürrenberg. The goods shed and the connection building with ticket issuance from 1910 were demolished in 2011/12. Up until May 21, 2000, the station had two mechanical interlockings (most recently with light signals ), and since then there has only been one automated block post. The two current outer platforms of the stop are 55 centimeters high and 155 meters long. South of the stop is the final stop of the Halle – Bad Dürrenberg regional tram .

Reception building

The appearance of the building, opened in 1856, is strongly reminiscent of Romanesque basilicas in Central Germany. The double tower facade, the arched windows , the transept are striking . The building is assigned to the arched style or the late classicism . In 1906 and 1910 the building was expanded. A fire in February 2013 damaged parts of the building, including the platform roof, which mimicked the side aisles of a church. Since the building is no longer used by Deutsche Bahn , the traces of fire are still visible and the building is slowly falling into disrepair. A group of young people wanted to revive it as the “Wupp House”. The work for this has started, but the project is on hold (as of July 2017).

It is not known who designed this rather atypical station building.
